SLOW Regional 29 Nove
The entries list shows some confusion as to which colour the M55s/M60s should be running in. I don't mind Blue or Short Brown but would like to be in the same one as my peer group.

Re: SLOW Regional 29 Nove
The Flyer and the SLOW web page both state the same: M55 - Short Brown, M60 - Blue. I have presumed that this is what SLOW have decided so have entered accordingly. If others choose to the enter otherwise, that is their decision. Of course SLOW might have made an error and I might get an e-mail suggesting that I change my choice of course (as happened for the recent SN event).

Re: SLOW Regional 29 Nove
Based purely on the entry list there is perhaps similar confusion with the M45s and M50s between Brown and Short Brown. Can't tell whether this is people selecting the wrong course accidentally, or exercising a deliberate choice as to which they wish to run.
The allocation of classes to courses is varying between events so unless you check the specific flier you can unwittingly enter the same course as the previous week but find yourselves running with a different peer group. This may of course settle down over time.

.. unless perhaps the Short Brown turns out to be 9.4km, as at MytchettI don't mind Blue or Short Brown ...

The allocation for the OK Nuts is (almost entirely) the same as was initially advertised by the SN Trophy, although I understand that they made a change later. The exception is that we amalgamated the Short Green and Light Green courses, since their specifications are almost identical in south-eastern terrain.
The course length ratios will be very close to the BOF guidelines, with the Short/Light Green being about mid-way between the guideline lengths, i.e. about 100m shorter than recommended for SG and about 100m longer than recommended for LG.

Re: SLOW Regional 29 Nove
But both events have moved away from the BOF guideline: - SN finally had M35L/M40L on Black and didn't offer a Brown course (although then appeared to make the Short Brown nearer Brown in length); SLOW have M35L/40L on Black, M45L/50L on Brown, and M55L on Short Brown.
Hence the confusion that drobin suggested - some M55s may have just thought "Under the new BOF guideline my default course is Blue" and entered that, missing the suggestion that their class runs Short Brown for this event. (Others may have deliberately thought "Short Brown is too far, I want to run Blue".) Similarly for the other classes.
Not quibbling with a club's right to suggest whatever combinations it wants - and there may be a specific aim to give some runners longer courses - but perhaps to avoid confusion clubs that don't follow the Guideline should clearly indicate on the entry details which classes they have moved. If nothing else this might reduce the risks both of a number of late requests to change course and of people taking the wrong map on the day!
