that's a little extravagant. admittedly Chester was similar in terms of it all being longer legs, but at least there was more than one route choice available on almost every leg! I think this is more understandable and acceptable coming from a club putting on their first urban race than getting leg after leg with no more than one option from a club who have run the same event for 3(?) years

Except that this is a student club, where the turnover of membership is considerably greater, and the organisers/planners etc. likely to be more inexperienced. I suspect the membership is very different to that when the club first ran the City Race.
We are very lucky that we have student clubs who put on such a range of events, and who have been at the cutting edge of developing urban races - without them the calendar would have been a lot, lot emptier. Yes, there were things we can all learn, but I for one am grateful to OUOC for their ongoing efforts.

Dave, according to DEE's result page, they put the race on last year, albeit on a smaller scale. Same planner, who obviously doesn't look for good practice from other street events.
Hope your event doesn't receive the same level of criticism

Re: Oxford City Race
On a completely different, and egotistical, note does anyone know who was taking photos at the Oxford Race. I carefully adjusted my style, pace and facial expression (always a downer) in order to secure a suitably athletic
replacement for my Facebook photo coming in to the finish, but can't find any posted anywhere??

Wendy Williams of SMOC was lying on the ground by the last control taking photos as I finished. No idea if they are posted anywhere I'm afraid.
