Well I thought he would come back and say something entertaining - everyone is being so well behaved lately apart from the spammers - even Gross

I still think Gross has been abducted by Aliens and it's someone else posting
That said he's just taken a pop at Big Jon on the PP thread - so maybe he's escaped the abductors

Yes, I felt right at home. Indeed as I write this the following e-mail has appeared in my inbox
Neil - How does your qPCR kit compare?
From a company that I actually use quite a lot!

Re: Spam on Nopesport
There's a spambot posting on the NT thread... not an obvious spam so might get overlooked by the moderators, hence flagging it here.
Stop talking, start running.

We've now got spam posts in perfectly serious threads (see the latest one in the thread on number of BOF members/active orienteers)

Re: Spam on Nopesport
I quite oftenuse an unrelated (football) forum and have almost never seen a spam post. No idea why it seems so bad on here but presume there must be a way of stopping them otherwise they would be as bad on every forum.

Re: Spam on Nopesport
Hi,
We are close to being spam free again. Ive improved the captcha on the signup page, as the spam bots had cracked the default captcha.
I have also made an attempt to delete spam bot accounts. However whilst there should be no new spam bots, I think that a few user account may still be lurking in the user-base, so we will be systematically deleting any such accounts that remain active.
Cheers,
Alastair
