Re: Nopesport Urban League 2009
OK, I'm really thick. How were the junior points for Stockport calculated from the two available courses for M/W 18-? It is of absolutely no significance, doesn't affect anything, but the fact that I can't understand it is bugging me...

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2009
Stockport? ... by an exceedingly cunning formula known as 'elapsed time', regardless of the course that the various juniors ran. Or as it ought to be known, 'cock-up'.
I've now had a second go. As both courses seem to be properly urban, rather than the shorter one being a park where straight-line routes are possible, I've reluctantly used the min/km that I tried to deploy first time.
I'd be very grateful if all of the races in next year's Urban League used (and advertised) the standard categories. This doesn't mean that a large number of courses is needed -- e.g. from the point-scoring perspective,
Course 1 M Open, W Open, M Vet
Course 2 everybody else
would be fine. If safety dictates that M/W14- (say) have to run a separate parkland course then I'd be inclined to continue current practice of ranking them after M/W16-18 on the 'city' course: min/km is not a good measure, but they shouldn't be excluded completely just for being young.
I've amended the leader-board above.

So Roger and Spookster, who should we be betting on to win the league in your class with you two currently tied in first place and the two remaining races being home ground for one or the other of you?

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2009
The form guide says that Spookster is defending champion, has a worse potential discard and has recently acquired some golden footwear; the OMM start list indicates that I may be pretty knackered for the Oxford race. Place your bets.

Oct 9-10 weekend: Bronte double (Thornton and Haworth) sprints, followed on Sunday by urban race around Otley. Similar package to the Leeds Uni/Skipton Yorkshire Pudding weekend in 2008.

Does anyone know what the closing date for Sheffield is, please? I can't see anything about this on the web site.

Think it's a week before the event, but don't hold me on that! I'll get Faz to confirm ASAP.

..and just to clarify, contrary to what the BOF fixtures list has for some reason said up until thursday this week, the ShUOC event is Online Entry only, not EOD only as the BOF site had said.

The top five on each course, plus anyone who could make the top three after the final race in Sheffield, are listed below. 'Poss' indicates the maximum possible score for each competitor.
I've included a little commentary too, although others may wish to comment further. Please let me know if I've failed to consolidate anyone's points.
Women
; Karen could pass Amy for second.
Men
, but second and third are wide open.
