Wow. Not sure that I agree with that, although TBH I'm not sure how useful my Garmin would be in making me quicker.

Knowing exactly how far you'd been since the previous control would have been very useful at the Harvester (or any other featureless area, particularly at night).
This seems a very dubious decision to me. I know we have yet to make a decision on this in Britain. I personally hope we follow the IOF lead rather than the SOFT one.

As we all know pacing has to be adjusted for terrain and climb - a GPS doesn't -on the other hand in thick wood it is useless.
I think GPS used as a tool to analyse after the event is fine -using during it defeats the objective of "competitive navigation"

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg
