Spam on Nopesport

A friend of ours was suitably embarrased after she lost her cool with her son for reading Stuff magazine in his bedroom. (she had read the magazine title as Stiff).

Cartel - have emailed nopesport asking my ad for Open5's to be removed (although oddly the dates for 09/10 are pretty much the same). Why - because of the Oentries ad, I think its disgusting and has no place on what I regard as a forum for a family orientated sport. It disappoints me to see postings regarding this ad as a stroke of genius. Why now? I did raise this with nopesport about 12mths ago and the response was they thought it was funny - I forgot about it..

Without question Nopesport is cheap to advertise on and the coverage is good, but that does not mean I have no values. Happily place an ad and pay for it when this ad is changed.

Sorry I missed the sacarsim.. and I didn't see it. However someone (Nopesport and Oentries) clearly thinks its an appropiate ad to have this site even if the users don't.

I personally have no problem with the ad -"to the pure all things are pure" but given the amount of sexually related (I assume -I haven't looked and I wonder who is looking?) Spam we're getting perhaps a revision might be in order for a while?

I'd be more worried about the porn-spam (which is easy to automatically fix rather than have to be administered as it is now) than a schoolboy joke in an ad...

Oh! The power of advertising!

I was staggered to see from Wayward-O's post that the offending O-entries slogan has been around for 18 months (or more). I never noticed it until this week. I don't normally look at adverts. Not sure how typical that is.

Whatever - the people fitting the age and social profile of the average event organiser for an event requiring pre-entries are not likely to be impressed by the slogan. They are likely to find it somewhere between offensive and puerile. Not the best of advertsing strategies I would think.

If O-entries are lucky, organiser's like me, will not have noticed the slogan. But it's a bit of a risk to take.

In case the Moderators don't spot it there is an offensive Spam post from Lada-annette (or similar) in the London City Race thread -definitely needs to be removed as topless ladies aren't required

That posting is a worrying development. Posting in an existing thread is far more likely to get read than creating a new thread with an unusual title. From the number of 'inappropriate' postings that are appearing now I think it is time to put vetting onto the new member process.

Is it possible for new members to enter their club name in full, and for that to be recognised by the system. Spammers are less likely to be able to source the club name, and perhaps won't be bothered to find out.

Yes I hope the Nopesport administrators can find a way of keeping out the spammers. Some of the recent postings have been very offensive and will deter / has deterred quite a few from visiting nopesport. That would be a pity.
