Interland Selection Races
Does anyone know which are the Junior Selection Races for Interland 2010? They do not appear to be listed on the Orienteering England website.

One of the provisionally selected events has been cancelled, so there has been some re-planning. Should be published soon.
p.s. I tried to PM you with more info, but you don't accept PMs.

Re: Interland Selection Races
I am trying to plan the British Trail-O Champs for November and need to ensure that the Interland selection is not on the same weekend. This takes a lot of setup and I need my co-planner/organiser/mapper/controller to be around the w/e I plan it for.
Is the Junior Interland selection certain not to be in November? When will we know for sure? I need to get the BTOC date out this week!

Re: Interland Selection Races
Well that's one fixtures clash I'd never thought of before.... British Trail O & English Junior selection race ... we really do need more than 52 weekends in a year so people can fit all the races in
Firmly put the clash between British Elite & Tio Mila in it's place

Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

The Walton Chaser National Event on December 13th is billed as an Interland Selection race.

... and I'm sure the Seniors policy will be there very soon as well. It's the same three autumn events (November Classic, Eyam Moor, and Cannock Chase) as for Juniors and Vets.

Re: Interland Selection Races
As far as one's average orienteering commute to an event of such scale goes, Eyam Moor and Cannock are really not THAT far from Cumbria, are they? I'm surprised you haven't inspired an entire legion of Scottish sarcasm!
Will? We've got proper fire now!

Re: Interland Selection Races
Sorry Wayward but Becks is right. Only go to the two Northerly ones which are both a lot nearer than they have been in the past two years if I remember right. Unfortunately once you get into selection races there will be a lot of travel involved so maybe we should be looking at more car sharing - I think we may even be in the same club which has a forum with car sharing on it!
Probably no Scotch sarcasm as they aren't interested in Interland.

The last couple of years, one of the AIRE Dales weekend events was a selection race, giving slightly better access to Northern club orienteers.

All of the selection races are quite a long way from Cornwall - it's about a 4h30 drive from my house to the nearest one. Such are the hazards of living somewhere nice.

But for how long? I was at a Climate Adaptation workshop yesterday, one scenario presented envisaged the 2050 Highland population having swollen to 400,000 largely due to migration from SW England (and S Europe).

Not exactly on topic i know, but then what do we care about interland

I would guess the almost complete lack of non-seasonal employment, but I'm not sure why that would be any less of a problem in the Highlands. Perhaps the 2030s will see mass Celtic immigration into the newly-independent Scotland.
