Start times now accessible from BO(F) site or Fabian4, but no final details incl. carpark locations, distances to start, course lengths etc. yet as far as I can see.
Friday Sprint starts are from 18:30, somewhat later than the original provisional time of 17:00. Had I known I could probably have entered.

Sadly, with BEOC classic being omitted, only BEOC sprint was vet-friendly. All the other races were chosen to clash with major age-group competitions. So it's all to play for this w/e.

Yup.

I hardly see how a veteran class (over 40?) is and age class thing.

Having moved up through the ages I beleve that a young M45 is far nearer to M21 than an M55 is to an M45, and there must be an even bigger gap to M65....

Not that I am arguing that there should be all these classes for such a league, but when it comes to all age sprint championships to lum all veterans together in either 1 or even 2 classes is a nonsense and will never encourage older competitors.

Note that at this year's Scottish Sprint championships there will be official winners for every age group (finisher dependent!)

So, Eddie, which events where Vets are 'lumped together' are you refering to?

It has taken several years of argument for an all age British Sprint Championships to come about, (and even then, being put on as a single event is hardly encouraging people to travel and therefore give it credibility).

I do not intent to trawl through pages of Nopesport fora, but Homer if you haven't seen pages of argument that age classes should be limited you haven't been reading the bits I have.

On a parallel thread we see the problem regarding athletes being beaten by older classes (younger in the case of juniors) on the same course, and this is a thorny one. Personally I could not take a title seriously if I were beaten by an older class on the same course, although I am fairly happy to take it if I have been clearly outperformed by an older competitor on a different course When it clearly does become a nonsense is if a W20 for example takes a title when beaten by a W20 that nominally entered W21.

Giving awards to each class regardless has the advantage of spreading oportunities for local publicity etc.

Giving someone 2 or 3 awards when they beat everyone on the younger/ older age class has an obvious logic to it.

I am open minded about this.

I once won a considerable amount of money in a hill race as 1st Vet, despite the fact that the first 3 in the race were all vets, (and given the first 3 senior prizes,) and positions 4 to 9 were all seniors who got nothing
