Re: Spam Posts
Getting really bad. Two new ones today (Sat 27th June). Definitely need some way to keep the spammers out.

Re: Spam Posts
It's obviously difficult for the moderators to keep an eye on the message board all the time.
So what about allowing all regular users to delete threads, on condition that this power only be used for spam threads (and not for example for comments that people don't like, removal of which should be reserved for the moderators)?
I imagine it would not be difficult to build a list of a couple of hundred of the most regular users who could be trusted not to abuse a power granted for the removal of spam posts, and then they could be eradicated much more quickly.

Re: Spam Posts
I joined a new forum a few months back where the method of registering was deliberately made more difficult because of the problems they had experienced with spammers. You had to e-mail the moderators stating your justification for joining and then receive a code, if I recall.
After negotiating that hurdle, you are then only allowed to post "in real time" (ie it appears visible to everyone immediately after you press submit) after your first 9 posts have been approved by the moderators.

Re: Spam Posts
Don't bother reading the thread immediately below this one, it's spam.

Thanks MappingMum - knew it would be the old free OS data if you send £200 scam.

For every winner, there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them.
