Entries are now open to the public for these events
details here http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/n ... 9yZy51ay8=
I'm sorry I have been trying very hard not to BOF bash lately but that is a crap announcement. No information about when the events are or when the closing date is.
Still should be a good event.

Re: WOC selection races
Yes Graeme I know when they are - because I looked - but shouldn't the information all be there in the announcement - you know - an example of good practice - after all members of the public might be looking

And the fixtures list still says "on day entry: Yes"

But there are presumably more accurate details linked from the BOF home page which say closing date is June 26th
Is this years WOC sprint race in a forest then?

Mostly. There are terrain descriptions here.

Cool thanks Scott. looks like the selection race venues are well chosen.
I see one of the recommendations for media accommodation is the Hotel Kitty

Re: WOC selection races
WOC Sprint Final is 80% forest and 20% park so makes sense to have WOC Test race in a forest. Park obviously was not feasible. Qualifying includes soome built up area (40%).

Will be a good event if you like stinging nettles, some info I saw has a special warning to reinforce the front of your trousers in order to be able to race offensively... nice

Re: WOC selection races
I pitty the unseeded runners going off first.
It was bad enough last year at Weston Heath. Can't we find an area realatively unaffected by undergrowth, in Scotland maybe?
Anyway, I'm declining the chance to act as cannon fodder this year!

Nettles are high this year.
From memory and recent training runs:
Worcester Walk is flatter and more open; large clumps of nettles especially around wetter spots and old mine workings - they could be a problem for sprint format
Headless tends to have a lot of nettle growth around the escarpment/boulder areas and as per most of the south bad bramble where there has been forestry clearance.
Knockalls is full of nettle clumps, but most seem to be roundable for those who don't want to be cannon fodder and know a few extra seconds really won't make any difference.
These are good areas.

Don't doubt that you saw this info...but i can't find it anywhere, the details on the BOF website aren't that specific (although I guess you can read between the (vertical, green) lines). Or is this something that's been discussed at Squad level, but no-one at BOF feels like sharing with the rest of the punters at what is after all the UK Cup Final...
Oh well, for those who want in-forest sprint action with minimal undergrowth for the bargain price of £3 can I offer for your consideration the Hill 99 sprint race 25th July.
Answers to FAQs:
Yes there is a large piece of chocolate sticking out of the hill
yes there will be prizes
yes you can guess what they will be
