also - the start times on the clydach terrace event - I got an email (as did several othrs I've spoken to) saying that my start time was 1-1.30, but the fabian start-list says we're in the 2-2.30 slot, which makes more sense as I ticked the late box. Emailing the organiser, but just letting people know...

I think the 1-1:30 in the e-mail was intended to be illustrative rather than definitive. The same standard e-mail will have been sent automatically to all entrants.

re-reading the email it says that the start times are allocated into 1/2 hours slots and then gives the example that if you are in the 13:00 slot that equates to 13:00 - 13:29. I don't think it means that you are actually in the 13:00 slot - although I am as I asked for an early start. I'd say whatever is on Fabian will be correct.

Is anyone else running a night leg this weekend nervous?

I know it's nothing compared with Jukola, but Merthyr Common at night is going to be very tricky. Also, with so small numbers, following the pack might not be an option!

I'm more nervous about this than anything I've done in the UK for some time.

Compass and distance judgement will be vital, so perhaps a race where GPS could really make a difference. I'm sure no one will try to cheat though!

You need to be mentally running through your relocation techniques and mindset. Mind you I expect most will simply fall back on the "I'll just ask" technique

Given the entry numbers on the A course, you might be waiting around for a while before you see someone to ask .

How do you know that? I would be very confident that Merthyr Common will be a LOT harder - even if they don't play hide and seek with the pits. On the other hand, at least people will ask where they are in English.
