Firstly I would like to say well done to all the team selected for WOC. I have always felt that with a lack of races in the UK for MTBO, the only way to get experience and improve is through racing at big competitions. If people see a bigger team selected perhaps they will be more inclined to give the sport a go. The selectors have selected the best people who have put their names forward for selection, and given that the races are self funded does it make a difference that people aren't medal potentials....? In my mind, selecting this team, is no different to the JWOC or WOC foot teams. Selecting a team such as this, 2 of whom it will be the debut races for GB, perhaps the experience they get at WOC will encourage them to take the sport more seriously. We've got to give people a chance to show their potential otherwise the sport will fade away.
As for funding.....
Many thanks to SWOA, SCOA, Sarum, and TASS who have all shown their support for me, and I have got enough money now to cover the essentials of the races. Their help is greatly appreciated (as always).
