I'm glad they adopt the "up to X athletes will be selected policy", there is nothing worse than sending people to make up the numbers

How else are those on the border-line suppose to gain experience then?

There have been several occatinos where people well below the border line have been taken to internationals, that is what I am referring to.

For anyone who has missed out why not target other races abroad this summer instead? Flights are still cheap. Why not ask an elite who lives in your area to help you link up with a foreign club and run some relays abroad or organise an exchange, lots of Scandinavian juniors want to practise their English (or their parents want them to). You could also run the UK Cup final/ WOC selection races or spectate & run the spectator races at a World Cup round/ WOC to get some extra inspiration.

If you are pissed off about missing out why not speak to your regional squad coaches about a new training programme towards the Scottish 6 days (2 months) or the JIRCS (3 months). You could try some road or fell racing/ make an orienteering map/ plan an event.

Good Post Harry. I guess there will be a few disappointed people out there. Some in the midst of exams too, so they need youe encouragement to help them handle the disappointment.

Harry - Thanks for your supportive response. Hocolite is right - there are some very disappointed talented youngsters who are currently also struggling with GCSE's and AS/A Levels.

As novices to elite competition we did not know about the UK Cup Final/WOC Selection Races - great tip and something to aim for after exams.

There hasn't been much info yet on those races but i know there will be Sprint, Middle & Long 3rd-5th July somewhere near Monmouth/ Forest of Dean.
No reason why they shouldn't run the Sprint & Middle, the Long might be a bit tough, probably best to drop the long, it's usually enough with 2 races in 1 weekend, time for something else fun on the Sunday.
There are also some races in Tynset a couple of hours from where I live the same weekend in amazing terrain to select the Norwegian Team. Maybe I can go run those courses later for training.
