Re: Jukola/Venla
Young Mr Grassie will need to have sharp elbows to get through the massed start. I would guess you guys will have a high number & be at the back of the pack...
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Crikey, spots have filled up!
Put me down for Leg 2 - Mike (or someone else), I'll be needing your big headtorch, I don't think my 3xAAA Petzl will last 12km.
Add me to the list of officially excited.

Pat,
roger on that - I'll bring the head torch for you (and even remember to charge it!
). If no one objects we are therefore looking at:
1. 12,2 - 12,3 km daylight/dusk - Grassie
2. 12,6 - 12,7 km dusk Saile
3. 14,8 - 14,9 km dusk Carlyle
4. 8,7 - 8,9 km dusk/daylight Crickmore
5. 8,8 - 9,0 km daylight - Edwards

Great that you got a team together! I will cheer for you.
The terrain doesn't look so typical Finnish this year, lots of paths and tracks.

Have you got a map Harry? I am rather relieved to hear that! I was just thinking about those 2.5km legs across nothingness and starting to think I'd made an unwise decision...
Edit: Just looked at the old maps on the website -see what you mean! In fact, it looks like FVO night races might have been great practice.

Re: Jukola/Venla
You will be loving it.
It was a great experience to run Jukola last year although the Venla-Jukola combination was a bit tough to recover from. My body prefers Venla-Sauna combination.

Re: Jukola/Venla
My Swedish club OK Ravinen currently has 3 spaces in its third team. Already in the mix are a few Brits (myself, J Rocke, J Hartley and new signing J Crickmore) so you would not be the only Brits in one of the 3 teams.
You just get yourself there direct from the UK - entry and tent space free for Friday and Sat Night.
e-mail me if interested: Nick at compasssport.co.uk
(Not sure how long these places will hang about for - do check flights as saying yes now and then looking at flights which you cant afford and then saying no is annoying!)

Re: Jukola/Venla
I'm annoyed with myself for missing the opportunity to effect an introduction last night. Both your first 2 legs were running at Battersea last night, and although I spoke to both I only mentioned Jukola with Patrick. I only recalled about MeatMarket on the way home.
That is I assume they are still unaware of each others identity and will still have to wait for the weekend after next for all to be revealed.

Re: Jukola/Venla
AFAIK no Brit has ever been in a winning team (please correct me if I'm wrong) - I know Yvette was in winning Venla teams a couple of times though.
Could this be the first year?
