Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
Has anyone got a map clip from the leg just before the elites went through the tunnel/map changeover. There was a bit of questioning if anyone found the tapes. I didnt. There was apparently some out of bounds there. Given I have the fastest split, I am assuming I went through out of bounds. Anyone got a map so I can see if I did? Or is route gadget going up? (I realise I ask this very soon after the event - not meant to be a question to organisers. I can't beleive the splits are up so fast.)

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
Here's a quick photo of my map (with the M21E controls). Sorry about the quality. I assume you were coming in from the east if OOB was an issue?
Edit: uploaded slightly better-quality version.

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
Thanks for that. Very interesting. The womens control was on the earth wall to the right of the control. I then cut straight up through the yellow opens, didn't hit the proper road road as i realised that was oob and deliberately hit and went down the track and got to the control.
I would think that I was not breaking any rules but there is that funny crossing point bit i never saw on the edge of the open which possibly implies im wrong. Sorry to all those I seem to have cheated. I hope you don't grudge me that extra 30secs to 1min, I dont intend to declare myself dq'ed unless anyone really thinks it necessary!

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
looking at the map their is nothing wrong with that
you didn't run along the big road, fine
you didn't go through OOB, fine
what does it say on your descriptions, (please use marked crossing point) prior to the tunnel one, that is
does the line go to the crossing point or straight

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
I'm pretty sure the line went straight but descriptions said follow tapes. I followed this random 2 m of tape which was pointing me on my bearing but then stopped, so I just gave up on tapes. I thought the tape might have been for something else. Who knows! Maybe I'm just excelling at cunning running

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
There will be a RouteGadget but first I need to stitch together the Mallards Pike and New Beechenhurst map together. And then pray that routegadget is happy about map change.
So it might well be after my dinner and shower.
( i know you were not moaning it's just to give an ETA)

Re: BEOC Long / FCC Final
But if you're supposed to follow tapes then the line on the map should follow the route taken by the tapes on the ground - it shouldn't be straight between the controls unless the tapes go straight. It should also be dashed, rather than solid...
It would be interesting to see photos/scans of the relevant bits of the W21E map and control descriptions (was it the "follow tapes between controls" symbol or the "follow tapes out of control" symbol?), if anyone has them to hand.
