Hi,
I have used SI to program units for a normal event (cross country), but am planning a score event soon. Does anyone have any tips/instructions on how to use SI for a score event.
Thanks,
Phil

Re: SI Tips
programming the units is the same as any other event, you just need some software that'll support the format, so it depends what you have access to. Autodownload is probably your best bet.

The SI software for score events is OK but you can't tweak it for penalties if you have them for lateness unless the panalty is for a complete munute late it doesn't calculate it.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Re: SI Tips
We had an interesting SI issue on Sunday where a competitor downloaded and the readout showed 4 miss punches in sucession - the numbers shown for the missed punches were for controls not deployed anywhere in the wood.
We then downloaded to a training printer and the competitor's punching was fine - the 4 phantom controls had disappeared and the 4 correct punches were recorded
We redownloaded the SI card on the main system and the download showed 100% match with the competitors course
Any ideas what may have hapened

Re: SI Tips
Similar to another SI issue that occurred a few years ago - a runner cleared and checked at start, but at finish the results stated that SI SI Card only started at control 4 or 5.... SI guru was perplexed..... Trouble is if computer say "no" what can be done?
Insist on a second completely separate timing system at all major events.

madmike - what software were you using?
I've certainly never seen that before! Although interesting about putting it through the mini printer, I'll remember that for if it happens again.
