I received the following email from my running club (based in Dorking), and thought it may be of interest, especially to locals.

Planning application has been submitted to Surrey County Council for an oil well in Coldharbour, near Leith Hill. The oil well would be operating 24 hours a day and there is the prospect of very heavy HGV traffic going through Dorking, especially Knoll Road, and up Coldharbour Lane.
This online group has been set up to help people object to the application - see link below for all the information. The deadline for objections is 1st April to Mole Valley District Council and most importantly 23rd April to Surrey County Council - SCC will be the ones who decide on the application.
I'm sure a lot of our club members who run / cycle / walk etc around Leith Hill might want to know about this. I'm not trying to tell people what to think but if people are at least informed about this they can make up their own minds.
