OD are blessed with quite a few small woods which are good for development its true, enough to have almost one event a week and not re-use them too much, every possible bit of land to be mapped pretty much has been!
Not sure about a 'professional' coach? Iain has done a little bit, but I think the rest is down to the Hallidays and one or 2 others.
The schools stuff has all been focussed in Kenilworth

Other local evidence suggests that if the main driver in the school leaves then the sport there dies. Peter Christopher had a good squad going at Walton High. When he moved to King Edwards Aston participation at Walton High went downhill. When he retired from Aston and no other member of staff took it on the same happened there.

Back to the main topic, I now have my copy and agree totally about the wisdom of Nick's editorial. But Brian Parker's letter is brilliant.

Another article that really moved me was Jon D's about the WOC gold - it brought tears to my eyes all over again.

You should try reading that article alongside Jon's from last year's WOC.
