This is the biggest and best relay in the world. You may have heard people say this to you many times, but it really is something every orienteer has to experience at some point. Nearly 1500 men charging off into forest, all thinking they are going to come back first.
There were 7 Jukola teams last year from GBR: Edinburgh, Jesus OK x2, Sugarloaf OK (Wales), South London, London OK & Nottingham
Edinburgh and South London also managed to get women's teams out too.
Edinburgh are taking a few teams out again this year, why not come along and join in the fun... see if you can beat us!
It really doesn't how old or how good you are, it really is the taking part that counts. You get teams of M70's, teams of mates who've never orienteered before. This years terrain is not so physically demanding as in other years so it really is open for everyone to run.
How many clubs in the UK have 7 men??? Come on people, experience the greatest orienteering race on earth.

Yes - thinking - but only about 10 "know" they will be first back!
and what about the cowboys who start in row 48 and have the aim of reaching the forest first? - they get there and spend the next few minutes bent over retching from their 800m sprint!
But I agree - most amazing race in the world - I went back last year after a d=few years away and was amazed again by it all - the scale of it and the quality of the organisation. Worth big British event organisers or coordinators going to get ideas for quality improvements.

Then there's the mass start in the morning - several thousand men charging/waddling off plus a few women wanting another run and praying they won't get squashed or lose a limb
(some people started running before the start gun to escape the crush!)
Brilliant event going on my 2008 experience
