Hiring out E cards

This has been prompted by DM's comments on another thread.

We hire, or give out SI or Emit cards every week, yet I suspect rarely are newcomers shown how to wear them. When at registration I always do, but when I am on the start I always check they are being worn. In reality 50% of children are carrying them loose. The odd one needs to be taken through the punching process several times before the instinct to pull it off their finger diminishes.

Many people return the cards with the finger band pulled right out and these are then given out in that way - not suprising that these don't get worn.

I suggest that clubs will lose even fewer if attention is paid to this.

I'd add that we haven't lost one for some time now (years) and that loss was due to it getting pulled off the finger on a heathery slope.

We follow much the same procedure as EddieH outlined - which could explain it.
