I am sorry that I did not correctly anticipate when darkness would fall.
To compensate, BNOC race time will operate 30 minutes behind GMT, i.e. If your start
time is at 17:25 you will actually start at 17:55 GMT.
I have sent an email to every entrant but some email addresses have bounced back so excuse the use of this posting board.
I am sorry for this late change and appreciate the people who emailed or called me to advise I may have been too optomistic in when we could start the race. If this is a significant problem to anyone who has entered they are invited to contact me and I will see if I can help them out. bnoc2009@southernnavigators.com
Once again sorry but I would rather be sure it is dark

Re: British Night Race time adjustment
Instead of moving the times youcould move it up to any number of good venues up here and have no problem with darkness at the original times

aye, and there will even be some detail in the map!
i just don't understand why the night champs always ends up on vague southern areas, you just can't night orienteer on simple area. you need detail. night orienteering in the south is just about running round paths and then taking an epic compass bearing that you hope comes good... joy.
no offence to SN, they can only plan with what they've got.

We could rename the Scottish Night Champs to the British Night Champs quite easily - and it has plenty of detail in the area......

Not all southern areas are vague - BNC 99 was on Penhale Sands in Cornwall, definitely in the South and very technical even by day with lots of features to navigate by if you can read the contours.
Which is not to say there aren't areas in the North that are just as good...

If you haven't heard of Penhale you're missing out on one of the most technical areas in the South of England! It's on the North coast of Cornwall, near Newquay.
