A rather interesting comment from Ronnie O'Sullivan this morning that the sport(!!??) of snooker was dying and needed a Simon Cowell to revistalise its prospects and its future. Now.... this is a sport that has a fantastic amount of TV coverage, where the audience at home on their couches, can examine all the minutia of every shot. How can they possibly be 'dying'?????
TV coverage is the saviour of sport.... is it not? I thought we were doing our best to get some coverage for orienteering. Hmmmmmmm!!!!!
Are we even doing the right thing by holding races in the middle of cities where people can 'watch' what is going on. We must be careful that we display the sport to the possible participation audience in the right way. Surely we don't want to produce a spectator 'image' that people can just watch while eating their ice cream and go home and think.... 'hmmmm that was quite interesting.... don't think I want to do it though!!'

Skiing has a good thing on TV.... they show heart rates at split points. It's particularly good in biathlon & if you listen to Mike Dixon on the commentary he's alway's talking about the physical effects on the body...
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)
