Very good - there is only one thing worse than being talked about and all that and I'm feeling a bit bored. I will continue to look forward to racing at Lincoln.
Will a definitive list of urban league races be available soon please so we can plan ahead?

Oh dear. This seems to have overlooked the EPOC regional event at Ogden - even closer to Lincoln than the Aire event which resulted in the September cancelation.
Like Mrs H I'm hoping to get to Lincoln again one year, but a quality event on a good local area beats the attractions of a long journey to either Edinburgh or Lincoln.

Actually, realistically there's probably not that much in it, but the real issue for us was that when we rescheduled the City race, the EPOC event was not on the calendar at that time.... one can only do so much with the information to hand!

So do UDOC! We're hoping to hold a city race on June 14th - more details once we hear back from the council...

The danger of not being registered as an L2/regional event. If my experience of the first Lincoln race is anything to go by, it fits all the criteria (not certain about the grade 2 controller bit, but then we never wanted that to be set!).

AWK, we're in Britain, it doesn't matter what grade the controller is, there will still be controls in the wrong place, controls not out at all, not enough maps at the start, etc...

It does if you want an L2 event. However, in terms of the quality of event, I agree - the quality of the controller isn't measured by their grade but by their personal skills. Whilst the controller is there as a checker, the issues you raise are, of course, all to do with planner and organiser, so again, you're right, the level of controller is pretty much neither here nor there.

Entry deadlines for the first few urban sprint races are very close. Assuming there is to be another Nopesport Urban League (I certainly hope so), which of these will be part of the series? Maybe all of them?!
In the absence so far of an announcement from Nope Central, and as Edinburgh, Lincoln and Cambridge are using the established Urban League Categories, I'm intending to score all three. The Moravian website doesn't yet reveal the information for Forres.
My default position is that any race that doesn't explicitly split the Urban League categories by age onto different courses should count. (So for example the British Sprint Elite Champs would count, as the division into different heats is random, but if the age-group sprints put M45 and M50 onto different courses then I wouldn't score that event.) However, the sponsors of the series should have the final say.
Number of counting races? Given the geographical spread, surely not more than half.

Re: Nopesport Urban League
Thanks for that, Roger. Lincoln will indeed be putting on classes in line with the general Urban league scoring:
Mens' Open - 8km; Women's Open/Men's Vet 40+ - 6km; Women's Vet 40+/Men's Vet 55+ - 5km; Junior/Women's Vet 55+ - 4km
Hope those who aren't off to Edinburgh can make it along to sample the delights of the Castle, Cathedral, Bishop's Palace, Lawns and the University Campus....

Re: Nopesport Urban League
Roger we HAVE been told that the Forres event is a part of the league, and if you go on oentries you will see that we have arranged entries accordingly.
I sincerly hope that Edinburgh is included as, after much deliberation, I have reluctantly entered the short M55+ course.
This also includes my assumption that the JK and British will be included, and that I will therefore run enough events to score.
If not I want to know so that I can change my Edinburgh (and Forres) entries to the long courses.

And if you are really nuts, like me, you can sample both castles, cathedrals, palaces, lawns and universities. Anyone else doing the city race double and shooting for a temporary and unrepresentative visit to the top of Roger's rankings?
Graeme, hope the assembly area gets finalised and it's not too far from the station!
Strider, the first train from London gets into Lincoln at just after 12 (when registration closes) - hoping this will be OK.

I think you've been in touch with our organiser, Sean H., about this and his response has been positive?

No, I only decided to go this minute when I noticed the train fares were still dead cheap. I guess Lincoln in late January isn't a particularly popular destination for non-orienteers. Looking forward to the race - the map in '07 was superb and a big inspiration for London. I'll PM him - thanks.

Re: Nopesport Urban League
Will be at lincoln, sounds like a good revision break to me. I will also specify that Sheffield will use the Same age classes as required. I've yet to discuss with others involved about the format the event will take, may be a straight city race, may be another chasing sprint. What i will say is that not much of the area used last year will be used again.
