hey guys and girls

you may have seen from the nopesport news page that i am taking part in a competition to become "sony ericsson official photographer 2009".

while i've never been one to be slave to a corporation, this would be a good opportunity for me professionally.

unfortunately, the competition is based on public votes, and my closest rival has a big advantage as she has the support of a huge amount of members at deviantart.com..

i need quite a few more votes to win. as noted on the news article, if i do win the competition with help from the orienteering community, I'll provide my services free of charge to cover the final of the Nopesport Urban series, and supply both Nopesport and British Orienteering with a set of images to use for promotional purposes.

i need you guys to vote on each of the days 1-5, and if possible on a couple of computers... although this is slightly underhand, i know that my rival is encouraging her supporters to do this and they are even writing on her blog that they are voting on as many as 20 computers consecutively!

I've managed to vote on two of the home computers - but not the third

The website has some software that works out your computer's IP address. It may think two of your machines have the same address.

Speculating a bit, if your ISP gives you a dynamic IP address (ie different IP address each time you log in), then maybe you can fool the website by turning your computer on and off and therefore getting a different IP address?

To find out your IP address in windows, select start, then "Command Prompt", then type ipconfig.

Not necessarily the IP address their website will be able to see. Depends on your ISP, router etc. But enough boring geeky crap, I'll go vote now

It isn't just your IP address: even with a dynamic IP address I couldn't vote again. But a bit of nosing around shows that it stores a cookie on your computer to say that you have voted. Delete that, reconnect to the internet and then you can vote again.
