Do you think that posters should be able to declare their real identity on nopesport? I'm not talking about making it compulsory, but just to make it an option on the details in the little box that appears next to the message, or even to make it an option on one's profile. For all I know, I might be competing against 'greywolf' or 'copepod' (to give two random examples) at an event and I wouldn't have a clue who they were. Another possible benefit might be in knowing how much weight to attach to someone's opinion - for example, if a top dog elite (or coach) gave training advice in a posting, I might respect it more if I knew it came from them. (All hail gg for his sensible sign-in name.)
And before anyone says anything, I know, I know, I could always change my sign-in name to become my 'real' name, but that would be a bit less fun...
What does everyone think?

Might be a backward step to declare real names.

In your signature?
Gets displayed at the bottom of each post so seems like the best place to put it should you want to display your real name
Certainly don't think it should be forced upon people, and if a box was added specifically for your real name people might think it compulsory.
edit: they actually lost the 'Club' display on transferring to phpBB 3.0 (can't remember why though I do recall a thread about it) I assume you mean something similar to the old 'Club' down the left hand side? (or right hand side as it is now)

People should enter races under their Nopesport name.

it has been known to happen. don't try it at the o-ringen though if your nopesport name is only one word though, silly swedes can't cope with that.

Yours is hardly just a nopesport username! I used to glaze over when people asked me what my boyfriend's real name was

I often enter races under my username...
I want to walk up the side of the mountain, I want to walk down the other side of the mountain. I want to swim in the river, lie in the sun. I want to try being nice to everyone.

My comment was almost referring to how I acquired this particular soubriquet, but even since then, there have been a few events with "T.B. Nailest" on the result sheet.
Mostly near the bottom.

I definitely think this would a good idea. I'm sorry to mention the "F" word, but Facebook's use of real names in almost all cases has I think been a significant reason behind its explosive growth, and has created a largely integral community, where people know who they are talking to. I never really understand why people like hiding behind these "geek tags"*. Your name is who you are, why do you want to hide it?
Attackpoint uses geek tags but people's real names are visible in their profile.
*Yeah, I know I'm using one - going with the flow...

No problem with revealing identity ........... just amend your signature and all retrospective posts are amended too it seems!
Why go with the flow, be daring, liberated even. Will anyone else step out from behind their mask

All these alias's could be the same people using different logins, just passing the time of day talking to themselves.

Just taken the leap. Seems like a bit of magic has been lost now. No more masks. Just another orienteer. Not some ridiculous fantasy character with an exploding head. Hmm.
