Strange Sights in the Woods
Whilst taping sites today for an event my better half saw a couple of llamas on a lead. It might be New Years Day but it was a genuine sighting.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Are you sure they were llamas and not alpacas?

Re: Strange Sights in the Woods
There again, they could've been 'pushmepullyou's' as featured in 'Dr. Doolittle'
Whilst collecting controls from a Western Night League event some years ago, (same place as this years BNC) I saw a very large black Puma-like cat. I've also spoken to a farmer who shot a Lynx in the process of annihilating his chickens.
I don't go out alone anymore, - send the kids instead.

When I saw this thread's title, I thought it would be about people in pyjamas!

I have also seen what I take to be a puma - in the woods behnd my house. I saw the back legs and tail flying at speed into thick forest with my dog in hot pursuit
Fortunately she was well behaved and came back as soon as I called
For those who know my ancient dog this was many years ago now.

Is a candle in a jar sufficient to scare off a Puma?

And just to tie two parts of this thread together, wasn't it the same Eddie who many years ago was photographed in 'The Orienteer' orienteering in his pyjamas?

Re: Strange Sights in the Woods
Anyone travelling to EOC in Latvia in mid May this year might be lucky enough to run into a brown bear.... there are non in the country just now but since the 3 Baltic States joined Schengen in December & there are no more border controls then the 500 who reside in Estonia don't need passports and can freely move south if they wish:)

Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

We had three alpacahs at the night event at Inside Park - very nosey and watched and followed us along the fence line as you were running along.

Re: Strange Sights in the Woods
My favourite strange, to me, sighting was a group/gang/bounce of kangaroos bounding through the forest at WMOC in Oz.
Locally, I startled a VERY amorous couple in a wood where they thought they'd be undisturbed. My poor wee dug was quite embarrassed. I should have said ,'it's a nice day for it!', but I just coughed and ploughed on.

Bearing in mind the time of year are you sure they weren't camels just out for a training run?

I bumped into the bloke who regularly walks his pet goat on a lead on the Chase this morning....
Wrong time of year for snakes, though (phew!).
