A foolish consistency may be the hobgoblin of little minds, but it would be damned useful in this series!
I plumped for a vets' class covering 40-45-50, because that seemed both natural and fitted well with most of the races in the series. But Warwick was always going to be a problem, M40 and M45 were allocated to course A (yippee! At last a chance to pit myself against the youngsters!) while there was a competitive M50 class (with M50 prize, no less) on course C. Similarly for the women.
After some pondering I decided to allocate some points to the 50s who ran their 'proper' class, although not against the 40s and 45s. Minutes per km is meaningless on an area like this, so the only solution I was prepared to implement was simply to tag them onto the end of the 40s and 45s. This is not entirely fair, but does at least give them some points rather than none.
Again, if you'd like to see some results using a different system, grab the data and go ahead! You will at least find that the Warwick results have age-classes, and can be relatively easily parsed into a useful format. (Thanks OD.)
Here are the updated league tables. Enjoy... and come to Oxford because it will be great! Although de-duplicating is a pain when constructing the tables, it would be nice to see a few more people with more than one race to their name.

Thankyou again Roger! I see I'm hanging in there by the skin of my teeth with several fitter W40/50+s poised to take me out when the best of 4 kicks in at Oxford. Still it was glorious for even a brief while!

Re: UK Cities Cup 2007
Thanks to everyone who's entered Oxford so far. The online entry deadline is being extended until midnight on Sunday 28th Oct, on the basis that I'm going to spend this weekend getting cold and wet in Scotland and so won't be able to do anything with the entries until Monday anyway...

And (provisional) results for Oxford are up at http://www.cityrace.org.uk; photos at http://www.mysportstream.com/tags/orienteering. Routegadget to follow tomorrow night.
Thanks to everyone who ran today; I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. My sincerest apologies to the early starters who were caught out by the gate problem in St Anne's or the water shortage at the finish - I accept full resonsibility for both.

Re: UK Cities Cup 2007
Grrr, this is so frustrating! I've finally updated the spreadsheet with the Cities League results (sorry for the delay, lots of stuff to do after I finished yesterday including marshalling, two further races, club AGM and dinner), but the file won't upload to its on-line home at Google Docs. Until I can resolve that, or post it elsewhere, the top three plus ties in each class are given below.
With 112 finishers on the men's open course, I arbitrarily and inconsistently decided that the winner deserved 150 points rather than 100. This prevented the last 17 finishers from accruing negative points. I may or may not get round to improving consistency by adding 50 points to the totals from the other races, but I do feel that there is some merit in a system that gives the winner more points if the field is very large; when the field sizes are 35, 6, 42, 32, 49 and 112 it's difficult to strike a good balance.
The totals of both 'best 3' and 'best 4' results are given, but the sorting is on 'best 4'.

Re: UK Cities Cup 2007
There's a rather 'plain vanilla' web page with the results here. Enjoy.
Points for Oxford in the junior classes have been awarded first to M/W16s in the Junior City Races, then to M/W16s and under in the Junior (14-16) Races. At the request of the organisers, M/W14s who ignored the safety instructions and entered the City races have been treated as non-competitive.

Forgive me if my eyesight is failing but I can't see Marian White of HOC in your spreadsheet. (Veteran Women W40+)I' m certain she completed both Warwick and Oxford

--> Carol - I wasn't competetive at Warwick because I "ran down":

Re: UK Cities Cup 2007
Apart from the obvious winners - a big
to Roger who not only worked all this out but also did rather well himself
and also to the top two on Vet Women. Jane Halliday with the perfect 100s - ran 4 won 4 and Wendy Carlyle who, unless I have missed someone, is the only person to compete at every race. Note she didn't take her husband to a couple!
So will competitors other than Open and occasionally juniors be 'recognised' next year? (well done to the Warwick race , I know they were there)
