Anorak's on Please
I have been sorting out my maps, as there's not much else to do on a horrible night. My first map is of Abraham's Valley and my last map is of Wrekin (The). Anyone out there who has map names prior to, or after these map names?

A quick check of the archive and...
The eight "England" files run from Abraham's Valley to Yateley Heath (JK Relay, 1982, now there was a race that would have caused some debate on Nopesport).
Cheating slightly, the first map name in my Excel spreadsheet is "3 Brothers", which is how it was written on the map in New Zealand.
At the other end of the alphabet it's still Yateley Heath, but preceded by two that not many others will have run on: Yaroslavl (near Moscow) and Xian Gang (near Guangzhou in China).

Well, if we're going foreign:
Wasn't WOC 2006 held in Aarhus?
In Slovenia you can find Zejski
http://www.orienteering-slovenia.com/default.asp?menu=10&MapNumber=37
And heading to Hungary you can find
Zobak - http://lazarus.elte.hu/tajfutas/omaps/2000/zobak.jpg
Zoldhalom - http://lazarus.elte.hu/tajfutas/omaps/2003/bocsa-zoldhalom.jpg
Zsana - http://lazarus.elte.hu/tajfutas/omaps/1998/zsana-g.jpg
And subject to using my non-existant Hungarian language skills there might even be Zugligeti iskola
Anyway, anoraks off - time for bed!

My first event was Youlbury, this years WOC was at Aarhus and I think I've run on 3 roc mountain (but I might be making that up).
...and there shouldn't be an apostophe in "anoraks".

How do you guys compile your collections? I have a folder with C4 & C5 events in (going from B - W) then I have several folders with C3 & above in but I have put these in date order so a typical folder will have 2 years in it going from Jan to Dec. Sadly I dont have any foreign maps (Unless you count Scotland and Wales
)

all folders in chronological order, used to be one per year, and sometimes they were very full, but currently at the end of the 3rd year in one folder...
it's only a good system if you've got a very geeky memory for when you've run on a particular area though, otherwise when you come to dig a map out then you don't know where to start looking and spend ages getting distracted looking at other maps around when you thought you ran on that area.
better systems are categorising by geographical region or country (and then probably alphabetically within the region) or purely alphabetically, although given that one area may have multiple pseudonyms (strangely, mainly the not very good areas, although sometimes they're just novelty pseudonyms such as Fangorn Forest or Rivendell and Murkwood) then alphabetically may not much help either...
I'm sure I've got a few maps beginning with Z, but probably not any in Britain.
I'll get me anorak (although I'm not sure I own one - will a pertex top do instead?)

Adel Woods to Yateholme.
Event maps, results etc. in date order in folders by year in a filing cabinet.
Event details on a spreadsheet, so when revisiting an area after a few years, easy to locate the map last used.
