My understanding is that the 1997 British Women's elite race was voided after Yvette's protest.
Was it later reinstated? I thought other courses affected by the relevant control were, but that W21E stayed voided. If not, what did happen? Thanks.
A few bits to help fill the odd holes:
JK Relays
1969 Kielder*
1970 Shining Cliff
1971 Holmbury Hill
1972 Cannock Chase
1975 Hawley and Honley
1976 Dalegarth West (the individual was on Dalegarth, rather than Egremont).
1977 Eartham Woods
1978 Strines
1979 Bramble Brook
1987 Cawthorne Banks
1996 I think was Scugdale
1973: all I've got is 'somewhere in the Trossachs"
1974: all I've got is "in the forests north of Speech House"
The 1971 Men's winnner's first name was Per
The 1969 Women's winner's first name was Jitrenka
*The original venue was Slaley but with 36 hours to go it was under 2 feet of snow, at which point the hunt was on to find a new venue. Everything was done in those 36 hours (the race was on a black and white OS photocopy). The event report then goes on to relate "Most of Class A first men dashed off along a forestry road that wasn't on the map, the field came to a shuddering stop and apart from Brian Bullen who quietly left the group, most of them were mis-laid within three minutes of starting the race." Ee, them were the days!

Thanks to Andy, Neil and a few people who have emailed me as well.
W21E was voided in 1997 as Andy suggested, but I remember Ian McMillan doing some extensive detective work to show that the other classes on that course should stand.
Obvious items missing are now British Nights, CompassSport Cup and Trophy, and Harvester (my one claim to fame in this list: leg 2 for LOK in 1986). It would also be interesting to put all runners for relay teams, and clubs for individuals, and links to full results, and of course every other age group for major events.
But at least we've got a start.

Wow SYO Member, do you have these already stored somewhere, or have you had to trawl?
Can I put in a plea Simon. Club abbreviations are pretty incomprehensible to non-orienteers. Any chance of using club names? When I do it, I don't usually go the whole hog, shortening names to the main bit, e.g. not SLOW = South London, SOS = Essex Stragglers, UMOC = Manchester Uni, etc.
Having said that, there is an irony that my own club is easier to understand as an abbreviation (Aire versus Airienteers), but most are definitely not!

Awk, the answer is the data is stored, and if I just take off my anorak I'll explain.
Back in 1997 to celebrate SYO's jubilee, I produced a booklet using Excel and Word which was sent out to our members. It contained details of all SYO team and individual (Long/A) successes in JK/BOC/CSC/Harvester/National events/WOC/Regional Champs./Club Champs./Scottish 6 day etc. as well as lots of other stuff.
Like you, I've got every issue of The Orienteer, CompassSport and Stop Press and at the time, finding out all the info. did involve trawling through these publication as well as contacting people (pre-email) to find missing results if I hadn't been to the events myself. (I recall there being a handful of unavailable National Event results for which if I can dig out the details, I will post here to see if anyone can fill the gaps.)
Since 1997 I have kept the stats up to date electronically with the intention of putting it all online when I get the time. As there is nowadays usually at least 1 SYO victory in most C1/C2 events and all results are available online it is easy to do and by default I get other relevant data such as area used.
If somebody can tell me who won M21/W21 at Broomley Fell (NE) in November 1986, I should be able to post a full set of British Night Champions and areas on here for Simon to use.

I was already intending to expand club names as awk suggested. Now done, but it raises a few problems with clubs like SN, OD, WCH, AIRE, WAROC and a few others. I've put in some initial thoughts, but please suggest any better alternatives.

If you're going to attempt geographical explanations, then Airienteers is probably best described as Leeds-Bradford. Those of us in Wharfedale (which has long been a major stronghold of orienteering) wouldn't be too happy at being regarded as primarily an Airedale club
However, I hadn't intended that as a suggestion - 'merely' an expansion of the names to a fuller version from the abbreviations: e.g. Airienteers, South Yorkshire, Walton Chasers, Eborienteers, Octavian Droobers. I wouldn't be overly bothered trying to explain them. The only one you couldn't expand is Claro - that's the name as well as the abbreviation.
But it's your website, so it's your prerogative, and it's great to see it done.
Thanks for the response SYO Member - that's quite a resource you've got there.
