The home internationals is a competition between the four nations. Not three nations and England north and south. The kind of logic you are using could be applied to any sport. Haven't the kenyans got lots of good runners? Oh well they should run as Kenya north and south at the world champs then....

Fish summed up the point of the competition.
And No Darwen I do not believe the rules should or do artificially bias towards the smaller nations - A larger pot must always be a benefit. It is simply that if you choose the numbers that you want you would make it impossible for any other home country to compete at all.
Perhaps you'd like the number of runners selected to be based on the BO and Irish Fed member statistics for every class - say 5% of mambers run - all count and an average time is taken ..............!

If I'm after a slap up meal and beers I'll join my local pub quiz team - I was talking about international orienteering competition - not my social life.

It is part of International Orienteering. At competitions (any) you are only in the forest for 2 hours maximum during the day.... social life etc is needed to fill the gaps
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)
