The last bit of Saturday's BBC production of Robin Hood looked a bit familiar, anybody able to positively identify the location?
Also any other O areas used in films, Black Park has seen everything from The Sweeeny to Harry Potter.

Sherwood stretched for miles.
Sherwood went as far north as stocksbridge.
Locksley is actually now called Loxley on the outskirts of sheffield.
Little John is burried in Hathersage.
Limestone is only 5 miles from Hathersage.

Balmedie Beach has been used on a recent local independent Sci-Fi movie made entirely up here in the North...
clicky
It's on TV on Propeller TV (channel 195 apparently) on Sat 14th October.

I can't imagine what a bunch of Aberdonian hard nuts running about a beach with toy guns is going to be like but it could be worth a laugh.

Reference to limestone was in the current Sherwood forest. I believe the numbers of trees around Hathersage is not at a level you'd call it forest.

Well, where ever it is the scenery's good, but this new Robin Hood - do you think he's going to be up to it? I mean, he's just a boy
This is the second version running where I've found the Sherrif of Nottingham a lot more attractive

I believe that in Mr Hood's day a forest was defined more by the fact that it was set aside for the Royal hunt than the fact that it had trees on it (since most places had trees on them)
