Bit of a disaster yesterday with travel. Flight got diverted to Venice and then we had to wait ages for a bus with the Irish for company. Got to accomodation at one in the morning but apart from that it was all good.
Sprint race later on today.
So Dave...

Weather is good man. baking hot, bit too hot for racing but hey, its all good really.
Yeah..only arrived 8 hours behind schedule, not too bad really. the irish are good company though, plenty of banter in german going on..not quite sure why, but knew my GCSE`s would come in handy some time!
ah well, wish you were here...oh no you`re right next to me

We all did quite well yesterday in the sprint, Rockaldo leading the way with 21st...only 15-20 sec down on top 5-10. Rhodri came in to take 48th and I finished 52nd I think. In the girls, Cat stormed into 10th place!!
Jene finished around 37th, Emily was in 41st and Vicky 50th ish, only approximate though, the orginisers weren`t going to have finalised results untill midnight so we don`t know for certain.
Today we have the classic at 1000m above sea level, first start is 10am with Rockaldo off 1st starter, Hector is 11:12, Danger Dave at 11:58 and Rhodybaby off 2nd last on M18 at 12:46. Don`t know bout girls yet, they can post themselves!

Well done EYOC team yesterday after the travails of the thursday travel with sleasyjet.
Good start to the weekend both Catherine & Johns results better than Ruth's 11th & Dougie's 30 something in last yrs sprint.
Nice reward for rockaldo going off first
- start preference had to be done when we entered the team back in may.
News from JWOC - Having a good time so far pleasantly warm with 24 degs & not too many mossies!
- did a short middle training in relevant forest adjacent to middle this am - nice & challenging
Chilling this afternoon before team meeting and then watching some minor footy game.
JWOC starts tomorrow with classic model

Today was really tough, I caught one of the Swedes by four minutes at no.2 (long leg) but buggered both of my ankles at the same time on the way to 3 so couldn`t continue at reasonable pace.
rough results for lads,
Hector 47th 72mins
John 48th 72mins
Dave 59th 79mins
Rhodri --th 83mins
Relay team for tomorrow...
Rhodybaby on 1st leg
Rockaldo 2nd
Hector bringing up the rear.
watching football now, dinner when finished then off to `party with music`!
mmmm...milka!

A little bird told me Jene was 15th today - brilliant stuff Jene, really kicking ass.
Catherine Taylor 24th?
Emily Benham 30something?
Victoria Stevens 40something?
Relay team is Jene 1st, with Catherine and Emily.

Just a quick update as it is a bit late (sorry Hilary I should have put this on the BOF website):
1 Vera Madlova CZE 52:31
2. Nina Oleynichenkova RUS 55:57
3. Ida Marie N Bjorgul 56:00
16. Jene 63:24
25. Cat Taylor 66:07
31. Emily 68:01
54. Victoria 70:00
1. Christian Wartbichler AUT 55:08
2. Phillip Sauter SUI 56:04
3. Tomas Boril CZE 57:15
49. Hector 70:49
50. John 72:07
60. Rhodri 78:45
62. Dave 79:04
The forest was very tough out there. It was the first time any of the athlete had come across Karst terrain (it has to be seen to believed, trying to work out up or down). they all responded by putting some good results together, from the brits there was a good bunching of results (unlike last year). Many of the other countries have run regularly on this terrain before and had some specific training in advanced of this competition. The Austrian winner of M18, was not selected for their JWOC team as the austrians don't select them in preferance for EYOC.
the girls did well to be so close to the leaders Jene only 10 mins down on the winner who was a clear 3.5mins in the lead. david tok some knocks to his ankles and will be touch and go whether he runs.
Looking forward to the relays tomorrow, where the athletes are hoping to put in good runs to inspire their JWOC counter parts.

I'll parcel up your X box and send it out to Slovenia if they don't let you back into the country tonight- suggest you change your name from Rockaldo before you board that plane Christiano.
