Not got much nopeing time this week and this thread is drifting down the list, so I'll make this quick.
Ideas
1) Use the back or bottom of the schools map for a MADO style advert for the local events. Make sure the kids have enough maps for 1 each and can take them home. The keen ones may then wave the map and advert under the nose of the car driving parents.
2) Enlist the support of outdoor education centres. Orienteering is pretty standard in these places. Since these are often private profit making places, why not give them a commission for every referral to BOF?
3) It can be difficult for secondary schools to take kids off timetable to do an O event for most of the year - even in the school grounds, but different rules apply right at the end of term, especially the summer term. Many schools have activity weeks at the end of the summer term and orienteering fits perfectly into this. Then have follow up public event for the summer hols when the kids are saying their bored.
I guess this is all obvious stuff to those experienced in promoting O in schools....
Secondary School Teachers- how do you get to them.
