Not fair! We had some snow last week, but not enough to do anything with. Then Mrs H tempts me to go to the top of the hills to see the wonderful snow covered hills in Wales, and whilst there's a bit it's not exactly as described. Meanwhile kids are being sent home from school and Bruce is posting piccies of snowy Aberdeen. Finally I read of skiing in Birmingham, though when I look out of the window here, all is still green - even the patches of snow on the hills have now gone. My poor XC skis have been sat in the car all week waiting for a chance to go and play.
Well I suppose at least I'm off to Norway in a couple of weeks.

so how come you Aberdeen softies didn't make the Deeside Night Cup at Cambus on Wednesday then??
Um...because I don't like orienteering at night much... and I don't have a head lamp which kind of makes things difficult!!
Having said that, I am coming to Balmedie - only cos its great and I can't miss the opportunity of orienteeting there!

Wish we were back in Cairngorms; just caught the beginnings of it when we were there in Feb, so just have to keep looking at the winterhighland website and dreaming!

More snow...
According to official measurements, Idkerberget, 20 kms south from here, has 80 cm right now. In central Borlänge it's only about half of that though.
We have a competition planned for Idkerberget on May 18th or so, but luckily it's not this year.
The spring of 2006 will have lots of cancelled events in Sweden.

picture was from my flat window, at about 7.15 in the morning on wednesday i think, looked ok on the camera, but when i put it on my pc at work it looked amazing, well pleased with it.
was going to post lots of pictures of me and my mate skiing at glenshee today, however, we pulled 2 180's before we got there, and had to get the bus home, my mate lost it round a corner, going pretty steadily, and typically there was a car coming the other way, nothing all morning, then one coming when you need the space.
we kind of wibbled a bit, then did a full 180 and then hit the verge and did our second 180 as we rolled into the ditch, ending up hanging by our seatbelts upside down, oops!!!
had to crawl out of the back window, got a wee cut on my finger from the glass, but otherwise both totally fine, just pissed off really!!
forgot to take any pictures when we got out, so can't even post them!!
hope peoples skiing was good, i'm not at all jealous, up at 5.30, 3hrs traveling, 1 rolled car, no snow
off to norway tomorrow though, so hopefully get some xcing in on tuesday night, if Jon manages to make it back from the middle of the North Sea!!

Well we made it to the Lecht - just! It probably wasn't the best idea we've ever had - I think we maxed at 40mph the whole way!! 3 hours there and 4 hours back (an hour of that waiting for a gritter to lead 100 cars off the mountain!) and a few hairy moments! But we lived to tell the tale and got some quality-ish (windy) ski-ing done too!

In Wales the tobogganing was good, there was some skiing---Well Rhodri had his skis and the Welsh juniors were trying them out. But the roads were clear. Ideal if you can get there and enjoy the snow and say how pretty it was. Mind you those that went down the heads of the valleys on Saturday had problems but due to roadworks not snow.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

When my husband made me move out of London to the bumpkinside I was promised snow.
Surrey doesn't do snow.
Although I did get caught in a random blizzard on my bike after sitting in the office staring at the beautiful blue sky all day - a bit left field.
We've had frost though... v. pretty, but not so much fun I guess
