Check the terrain guide - mud, steep wet grass etc all seem better suited to the Mudclaw 270 than the O-shoes. No entry for Deeside forests with [nope]ing brashings on the floor ripping shoes to shreds. Anyone have any experience of how they might stand up to hard wear and tear?

Great grip on the mudclaws but rubbish lacing system and crap for contouring so i've heard. Also they have the same problem as most inov8 shoes in that the heel cup is very rigid and cause blisters (got a trick from inov8 to get round this though)

After much "discussion" at the KIMM an employee of INOV admitted that his shoes also gave him blisters.
I haven't tried this yet but I gather that the heel cup is made by a heat moulding process, therefore his suggestion was to heat the heel cup (steam from kettle?)then put the shoe on, in theory the heel cup should then mould to the heel shape.
The other solution, which I have used successfully is good old Luko Tape on the heel.

Inov-8 Mudclaw O 340
Just wasted £70 on a pair of Mudclaw O 340's.
Won't stay on in mud, caused blistered heels, not good contouring and clumpy to run in.

Inov8 Lacing
I had a pair of the Mudrocs previously (bought at last JK), the predecessor i think to the new mudclaw 'O' range.
When i first used them had big fully on blisters, but discovered by not lacing using the top hole (i.e. creating the loops that you thread the lace through), and lacing in a more old fashioned way, the never cause me a problem again.
(apart from the fact that in knackering my feet so badly, i had worn away the fabric & padding inside the heel cup, and finally they became unusable over this JK).
I used them for the KIMM last year, and trained with them almost every day in the 2/3months prior to the kimm - not a problem.
Maybe this will help.
This year i have got the Mudclaw (diagonal lacing type, not'O'), and am not having any blistering problem. Don't find them fantastic on contouring though, foot seems to move around in them a bit (maybe i just need some decent socks!)
