It was obviously fate I decided to take the bus to work today because it meant I read the Metro and there on Page 3 was Arthur Boyt from Cornwall!
I thought name sounded familiar and yes, browsing nopesport today I see M65 British Night Champion Arthur Boyt of Kerno. Surely the same person?
However the article did not mention Mr Boyt's obvious orienteering prowess. It discussed how he scrapes roadkill off country lanes and eats it. Providing recipes for Badger Hotpot and another dish containing Hedgehog meat and there was a charming photo of Arthur next to his large freezer cabinet which contained lots of dead animals.
Arthur Boyt joins another famous orienteer Sarah Brown (of the really good vegetarian cookbooks) in providing healthy recipes for the people of Britain.
Just got to find some dead badger now.
Sorry if this offends anyone especially Badger.

euch.
his name appears in 6 different threads on nopesport over the past year, but his publicity machine must have kicked in around november time or so. his roadkill recipe book would be a bestseller if released around christmas time, but as to whether it'd be in the cookery or humour section i dont know...

Not only a talented chef but also a talented artist is our Mr Boyt.... I remember back in pre lottery days (1995?) when the squad had an auction at the JK on of the items was a painting of a Speyside forest with control & deer... very nice too.... interesting to see if anyone can remember how much it went for????
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

The thing about the recipe book has just been on the news on national radio as well, with a short snippet of him talking about it - "I probably know more about the meat I eat than you do about that you buy from the supermarket". But still, the presenter then asked, with a very unsure tone of voice, "would you go round to his house for dinner?"

Not to mention Dave Coustick from FVO, his "The Backpacker's Cookbook" (foreword by Nick Nairn!) is surely without equal when it comes to recipes for camping and cooking - I am sure he would want me to point out that the latest edition is available from Amazon!
Why did I do that...

The BBC have picked up on this big time. Local radio were on about him thismorning and trying to ring him. I half expected Neville to ring in and say he'd eaten badger sandwiches at interland! But I expect local radio is not Nevilles regular listening like most youngsters.
