Just wondering if the UK Cup fixtues for 2006 are known as the FCC ones have now been published.
I'm hoping there aren't any races until March.

I would think that it is possible for the race 1 to be the nights on 28th of jan and race 2 to be the national on the 29th.
Maybe

The races for 2006 are now available from the soon-to-be-official UKCup page (aka ukcup.db):
http://www.ednash.com/ukcupdb/races.php ... es&value=3
A rule change for 2006:
There will be a change to the scoring with the first 50 runners scoring points with 60 for the winner, 55,51,48,46,45,44……………..…….…1.
there'll be some more changes happening on the pages in the coming few months as well - assuming I have some more long train journeys as they seem to be the only time I have time to work on it to wrinkle out the remaining bugs!

Have they changed?
I think the scoring system has changed, and maybe the number of counting races?

Revisions for 2006
1. 6 races to score as per last year, however if races are voided or cancelled and the number of scoring races comes down to 8 then it will the best 5. There are 11 planned scoring races in 2006.
2. Scoring: Foreign runners will still score, scoring system will change to the first 50 runners scoring points with 60 for the winner, 55,51,48,46,45,44....1

I have no problem at all Froreigners who are over for the year etc to count, generally they join BOF for that year. It's those that come over for one race thats the problem. i.e. Belgium team last year - They knock those that score towards the bottom right off the scores.
What would happen if lots off Foreigers came for one race say 50 - 60 (I know its highly unlikely but possible), the results would be a farce with perhaps only a handful of brits scoring and they are the ones who are looking for the points, the foreigners would just want a race and not care about the points!

What about the foreign-based British runners who run one or two UKCup races a year? They knock those who usually score towards the bottom out of the points as well...

why would the results be a farce? if the Brits aren't good enough to beat Johnny Foreigner then they don't deserve the points...
as for caring about the points, see the point about foreign-based Brits above. Quite apart from which, many of the top domestic-based runners aren't too bothered about the UKCup either (2005 standings: Oli Johnson, 4 races, 12th, Matt Crane, 3 races, 24th...).
Maybe we need a questionnaire for all potential points-scorers before the first race - do you now or have you ever not taken every UKCup race as the pinnacle of the calendar? All those who answer no get nul points thereafter...
