I'm a little confused. Rocky's report on the BUSA relays says that ShUOC were second, yet in the results their seconds runner, Chris Sellens, appears to be DSQ and that Oxford should be the second University team in.
anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

The ShUOC one is fairly simple to explain - there were some BMX/motocross/quad bikers in part of the area, and they decided that they'd shift some of the controls across paths etc from where they were meant to be. So Chris visited that control, but because the [nope]ers had shifted it, it wasn't there and he carried on with his run. This also happened with one of the other controls on the men's course.
as for Hannah, I guess she just mispunched

one of the contrals on schnitzels course was not there so he had nothing to punch. think it may have been moved by some neds that i ran across who were trying to dig up a contral later on in the course, so i beet them of single handedly and carried on my way round the rest of the course.

It may have made a slight difference, I don't know, but ShUOC were 4 minutes behind EUOC anyway at the end of things. Seeing Chris ran 35.47 for his lap then he can't have spent that much time looking for it. Best thing to do is ask the man himself...

It happened on the first leg of the girls relay too - when becky came in her and someone else had been to a control site and found the tape but no control... turned out it had been moved to the other side of the path.
There were load of kids playing on an overturned truck near one of my controls who seemed to be trying to disrupte things, there was a bloke (orienteer helper) running round in circles trying to check the controls were still in the right places.

Was just fustrating, I was having a good run and was catching cheps then number 5 was not there. I only lost a minute checking I was in the right place so was not too bad. However it plays on your mind during the rest of the course so more time is lost as you think, was I really in the right place, will I be disq, have I let the team down, etc. Also i caught cheps after the missing control so have no excuse for him getting away.
I too ran into the three lads diging up a control after cheps had, had his way with them, and they looked royally rogered. So am sure they will stay well away from O kites in the future, and be careful of runners aproching from behind!!!
Although it is a b***h that the controls were damaged/moved which kinda ruins the event. I think the results should definatly stand, cause I doubt anyone, even craney could have beaten rocky on the day. Well done to Edinburgh for two fine relay wins, and oxford for a fine event.

It was something we hadn't bargained for - being an Army area, you don't expect peoples to be randomly wandering about and moving controls! The only ones affected were in the SW part of the map, near to the housing estate. apparently a few had moved slightly when they were checked on Sunday morning, but all were in place at the beginning. In a way we were lucky that the [nope]s only moved them slghily (not more than 50m away from the original site) and didn't nick any of them.
Slightly off topic, how many people got caught up in that lovely hailstorm that decided to hit us - what was it like out on the courses? Can't have been worse than at the finish in the open where I was standing...
