I know this is the banter forum but the screaming in the middle of the night was out of order. A youth site is not a permission to behave in a totally selfish manner. Nobody was troubled by reasonable chat and music but when people return drunk by taxi and feel they have a right to wake up the camp site wardens, the other youth, the main campsite including the familly area 200m away I wonder why they think they are so important.
I also noticed that some emcampments thought them selves too important to clear up their own mess on leaving. I presume they expect the unpaid volunteers to clear it up for them. It is possible to have a good time without behaving in such a manner.

as usual we have resorted to complaints and arguments.. we need to work hard to up the tone around here and its getting pretty jobby to read.

the 6 days was ace. the organisation of the whole event centre area was really really good. its only taken years of requests, but the new yoof camp worked really well.

and im sorry, but everyone was pretty well behaved. surely thats the least trouble there has been at a 6 day campsite in a very long time. the people in charge of the campsite were great, letting everyone party within reasonable limits.

its a shame that old&slow feels the need to criticise a very small minority for isolated incidents without praising the massive amount of young people who partied late into every night without annoying anyone at all.

i cant see a bunch of young people from many other sports being that well behaved.

i think a massive "well done" is due to the organisers of the event centre/campsite. best i have ever been to.

the way i see it, is if everyone was put on one site, there would be noisy people, and other people complaining. with a youth campsite that separates the noisy people from the quiet area, so they can be as loud as they want. i'm not condoning it (the shouting did wake me up), but to me that is permission to be as loud as you want. i know there will be a few people from the youth site who were pissed off about it, but on friday morning, no-one who i spoke to seemd bothered about it. we were all loud at some time during the week.

what pissed me off more was the bollocking we got from the site manager (i think). he said he wasnt accusing anyone, and wanted us to tell other people what he was saying, but he just layed into us. no need at all, we had nothing to do with it.

also, I was in section 'A' of the campsite (right next to the yoof section), and I didn't get woken up at all...

the 6day social organisers did a great job ... speshally with the live music...

i was only there for a bit but it was great. i was also injured so not competing but had an amazing time waking up control units at bogendriep. there were some gorgeous runnable bits and i had the whole forest to myself (well nearly) a beautiful orienteering experience in sunlit forest.

also got out on glen dye which was really gorgeous and top class orienteering with the variety of vague stuff and more complex stuff. a real shame i wasn't racing but i will definitely be heading back to deeside to train on those maps they were tough and technical. we went up scolty hill the next day and had a look at that too, a lot of bracken but some interesting legs on the map i had.
