POC's in the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales
As info officer for OUOC I've had a request from a member of the OU Scout and Guide Group trying to organise a hen do with a difference for one of their members. They want to do something active and are looking at including some orienteering so she wanted to know of permenant orienteering courses in the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales. I figured you lot are most likely to know of them so any suggestions would be great. We did some training with the group last term so they have a grasp of the basic skills and must have enjoyed it

Pictures are better than words because sometimes words are big and hard to understand.

Someone with better knowlege speaks:
None actually in the peak. Longshaw i guess would be ideal, but you'll have to get permissions/maps/put out controls and its a DVO area.
No nice moorland areas with posts.
And none on the edge of sheffield.

Greater Manchester OA have an extensive list of POCs including some on the western edge of the peak district eg Teggs Nose, Lyme Park. http://www.gmoa.org.uk
East Pennine also have a few vaguely in between the Peak and Dales http://www.eastpennineoc.org.uk
Both GMOA and EPOC websites include plenty of info - where they are, how to get maps etc.
The Aire website says there are POCs at Danefield and Ilkley Moor in lower Wharfedale but I can't find any further info.

Try Grinlow near Buxton (details on the above link). If it was only 10 times the size, it
would be world class!

If you want Yorkshire Dales National Park, then I'm afraid there aren't any. The nearest, as Guest suggested, is on Ilkley Moor. Maps are available from the tourist information people at the library in Ilkley. (Obviously, if anybody in the group wants to do the JK next year, then they shouldn't use this POC, although your post indicates that's probably unlikely!).
Danefield, or Chevin Forest Park, is above Otley, another 10k down the valley from Ilkley. Maps are usually available from tourist info at Otley library, but don't know how up to date this one is.
