Must say, I thought it was great:
Woods' miraculous 16th putt,
DiMarco's 2nd best round of the day,
Goosen's best round of the day-appearing from nowhere,
Donald's double eagle and birdie to tie 3rd,
plus Clarke's great dress sense!

It's about as exciting as golf can get-though I was so tired today after that late finish & playoff (glad it was only one hole!)

good opportunity to bate master Ben - to get out and exercise rather than sit watching a bunch of pimp-dressed rich boys swinging expensive sticks around.

1. 'master' is spelt 'mastur' when used in this context.]

2. sitting and watching the golf on the tv is actually a rather healthy night in for me when compared to my regular sunday night activity of 'the sunday social' in the pub.

3. old man, enjoy it while it lasts. crazily sprouting ear hair and the realisation that 'hey, chris de burgh is alright after all' is just around the corner.

I was also told to strengthen my calves.
stand on a step
one leg at a time
drop your heel, rise on to toes.
3 sets of 10
2 or three times a week for 6 weeks

plus warm up properly before running hard - i.e jog around for at least 10 minutes, preferably 15.
I pulled mine in a fell relay, Graeme turned up before I was expecting him, not enough warm up, and straight off up a steep hill.

I was also told to strengthen my calves.

I'm currently recovering from a similar injury, and my physio recommended the following as part of a stretching routine...

Stand facing wall. Place ball of foot against wall about 6 inches up, and push heel onto floor so that foot, wall and floor make a triangle. Keeping heel firmly in place, ease your hips towards the wall to stretch your lower calf. Hold for a while and ease off. Repeat a few times for each leg.

NB: floor, wall and footwear need to all be non-slidey for this to work!

This gives a much better stretch than the usual "pushing the wall down" type exercise. However, it does look a bit odd to anyone who wanders into the office while you're in the middle of doing it.

Thanks guys - I'm giving it a go - I'm surprised with my chronically short achilles tendons I've not had this before - too late to do anything about them at my age - mind you - a 15 minute walm up will leave me with not enough strength to get round my course and as for getting my toes 6ins up the wall 6mm maybe I will just have to hobble round 50S on Saturday and enjoy the scenery
