I'm planning some training on OCAD 8 (the demo version) and I've got my courses all planned but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the lines on to connect the controls. The chap that sent me the file already had a score event planned on it - could he have hidden the connecting lines somehow!
I need expert help and I need it fast!

Purple Lines
You need to create a new purple line symbol
go to Symbol
select "line symbol"
select color purple
set whatever line width you want
New symbol will appear in the box on the right, and you can draw with it.

Hmmm, when I was planning courses on it, it did it automatically when I created the course - maybe you can change the settings or something? I just used the help menu to do the courses as I hadn't used OCAD before and it seemed to work so maybe thats the way to try it!
Btw, random question, but I don't suppose any of you oxford lot picked up my sports bra after the VM? ITs a blue Reebok one - I couldn't find it when i got back, though I am notorious for losing things!

I'm not lost, I just don't know my precise location in the environment...

Don't think anyone did, sorry Ali!
It's still not working - when I bring a preview up it has the numbers and everything but no lines - I can only think they must be hidden but I can't find how to un-hide them. Grr!

As much as I know (I don't...), it's not a stupid feature of the demo version of OCAD that doesn't allow lines to be printed?
but it's most likely to be a checkbox hidden away in some options menu that says 'do you want to print lines?' and you mentioning that a score event was planned, where you don't want the lines, that option was probably turned off.
unfortunately for you, it looks like a long hunt through all of the menus. hope you find it, unless you want to add another bit of confusion into a 'distract-O'

unfortunately neither of us has done any work all day so far for looking thru the menu's and trying to find a check box, afraid there's not one unless its hidden too. And the help kindly tells you how to hide stuff but not how to unhide it!Aaaaghhhhhhhhhh, in fact it's more frustrating than photosynthesis
anyone have any more ideas?

Though possibly not as fustrating as remote sensing of plants....
Have had a quick peak on my version but can't find anything obvious i'm afraid
Is it a demo version you're using? You could try and install it on a different computer, though I doubt it will....
I'm sure there must be some computer buffs on here! Hope you get it sorted ok guys, sorry i can't help!

As resident computer geek Brooner said, I took it back to the concrete streets and got the old school ruler and pink pen out - you can't tell the difference! Thanks for the advice though people.

A little late, but I think this is correct!
At a guess, the connecting line symbol 831.0 has been deleted from the symbol set (or at least, I just tried that and it did exactly as you describe)...
To recreate it select the 'objects' planning tab then from the menus:
Symbol|New|Line then in the dialog box:
Symbol 831.0
Description Connection Line
Preferred Tool None
Line color Purple Transparent
Line width 0.35mm
Leave everything else with the defaults, then click OK and then when you go to preview and printing everything should be back to normal.
