a quick explanation:
the junior/senior standings on my site are generated live based on the date of birth stored in the database - therefore if that's wrong (or not known), the current age calculated for the runner will be wrong, and therefore the category standings will also be wrong.
currently the years of birth in the database are those stripped from the JK and 0007 day 1 results last year (the only two results lists that included that information), plus one or two extras I've been e-mailed. Therefore if you see any errors in the dates of birth, or know any of the unknown ones, use the contact form on the site to send them to me. Unfortunately I can't just nick the info from BOF membership records or anything like that because I don't have them, and can't think how I could justify getting my hands on them without it being rather dodgy under data protection rules. Therefore I've got to rely on published results and/or contributions from users.
The problem with Chris Sellens was as I was manually entering some d.o.b.s yesterday I got one wrong (i.e. put someone else's in Chris's record - I've not sorted out a nice interface to that yet so I've got to do it through phpmyadmin, and since surname/forename are stored in separate tables to the d.o.b. then I've only got runner id to go on, which isn't too user friendly. apologies if this makes no sense, but the code monkeys will (hopefully) understand it), and then didn't correct it until this morning when I spotted my error and sorted it out, which is why the standings were suddenly back to being right again.
basically - use the contact form on the site to report errors/omissions - it's what it's there for. the output is only as good as the input.
Cheers,
Ed
