Sun May 1st FCC Final Long race (you can pre-enter JM/W5L in public
race at World Cup event and FCC finalists will be transferred to FCC
course)
The public races may well be organised by age group for juniors as they form part of a series and this series contains a National Event (which is age group based). Thus there may not be any courses labelled JM/W5L.
All races are likely to have BOF rankings status too. Watch this space!

I have been trying to find the selection races for the Interlands for juniors on the BOF website and it has defeated me. I know Wharncliffe is one but does anyone know when the others are/ have been? Please... I might be in with a chance this year

maybe because, unless I'm mistaken, there's no ENGLISH federation...

No federation, but there is a body called the English Orienteering Council which is funded by the regions (EAOA paid over £200 to them last year). I believe that the only reason they exist is to pick English teams for international competitions where the home nations compete individually. They don't appear to have their own website, so the BOF site would be the obvious place for them to make announcements.

I agree - but a little consistency wouldn't go amiss. The selection races are published but not the teams when picked. I know that BOF have offered support in this dept which suggests it's EOC not BOF who are dragging their feet. Surely one of them is capable of sending an e-mail to BOF HQ! The EOC seems to be abit of a secret society - although they generally have an AGM before the BOF one at the JK - well rthey're going to have to get in touch with me then I suppose if they want a room at the event centre. I wonder how much money they collect from the regions and what they do with it - they apparently plead poverty and yet the athletes seem to be paying their own way when it comes to the international - even having to pay for their own o shirts (which are not exactly top of the range!)

So why doesn't the BOF website have a link which opens up to information relevant to the EOC.
That way we could easily find information on selection races etc instead of trawling through endless news items.
With a bit of thought they could make life so much easier.

If ENGLAND had an active organisation looking after ENGLISH interests only then the BRITISH federation could look after matters relating to the overall development of BRITISH orienteering. A long ongoing difficulty that was highlight a few years back when BOF were talking about being organised on the 4 home nations basis.
I think the suggestion of a specific link on the BOF site to an area of purely ENGLISH interest is perfect solution. What annoys me (and others) is when BOF is see as ENGLAND....... when clearly IT IS NOT
The EOC is certainly a well hidden body.....
