cheers mark you can be head coach and team selector. i think if the profile is raised calling it the commenwealth championships then a lot more folk are going to come out of the wood work and train like mo fos. petey will surely have something to say and tim higgenbottom is world class fell runner orienteers for wales. and i have never had a decent o result petey has brought out of the bag on many occasions.

Hey Ed. I think you're needed for the SHI's this year as well. Its in the Trossachs - your favourite area. I'm going to Ireland for a fell race instead.

yeah, i considerd petey and tim, say tim had good JHIs for a random, but i thought with your new found motivation your a go-er, and with MC poole making a pension defying comeback having got into the welsh commonwealth marathon team he would get i aswell.

I understand that at the Commonwealth Games there are a number of "compulsory sports" and a number of "optional sports", the latter of which are at the discretion of the hosting nation. For example at the last Games in Manchester, triathlon was included, because the British (English?) bigwigs thought that'd be what the punters wanted. Now then, the 2010 Games were recently awarded to Delhi, where there are clearly different sporting traditions. So, out with the triathlon, in with the... wrestling! There you go, eh?! There's a link to Delhi's proposed programme below which shows which category each of the sports sit in. Lawn bowls being compulsory for instance, as is "net bowls"... Don't think they've got the hang of that particular sport in India have they? That'll be netball then.

but where is the mighty kabaddi? ahh i remember the days of watching that on channel 4 saturday mornings, oh the mighty battles that commenced, and lung bursting skills of repeatedly chanting kabaddi on one breath... then into PE where we got to play it a few times if we were lucky enough, was much more violent there tho!

Cheers Mharky Thats very generous selection!
It would be great if the powers that be can get this sorted.
Potentially have a bevy of GB coaches running as DJ monro could probably qualify to run for Canada and Lard to run for Scotland!

Reckon i'd be in Team Cymru above a at least a couple of the people in mark's team. But defo bring on a commonwealth comp, i think there'd be a lot of people who'd train specifically for it. Cheers for the kind words Ed. Team would probably come from the following:
Richard Barratt
Ivor
Middleditch
Ed
Pooley
Tim Higginbottom
Rhodri Buffet
Rhys F R
Rhys Manning
Rob Palmer
Me
Aye reckon that's about all of M21's+ in Wales

If this event realy is used for a Comonwelth Champs I will be well pissed off if I can not run because I did the Southern Nights the other week on Hankley. There was somthing about not running if you could make the GB team for the WOC 2005, no problem for me there I thought....
As can be seen people sound to be very keen on the idea. It will make the Selectors have a more difficult job than normal.
