At the risk of making this a boring forum, I know none of this will happen! On the other hand, "couldn't" isn't right, is it? Would require some change on both sides probably. Main issue on first glance being 5 year age categories at regional champs. Get rid of M35 for a start.
Holding 2 competitions with different sets of rules at the same event is always going to cause problems - though often sometimes it is manageable when those competitions are broadly compatible. When one is an individual competition and one is a team competition this becomes impactable.
Are you suggesting that the CSC changes its rules to be compatible with an area championship or that the rules of area championships change to be compatible with a CSC heat? Either way that would change the nature of the competition beyond recognition. Then what happens if a different CSC heat is held in conjunction with a different competition with yet another different set of rules?
To put some pretty fundamental clashes to you.
As an M60 at the CSC I might run any of 4 courses: Brown, Short Brown Blue Men or Green Men - depending on which is most competitive for the team. Are you suggesting that an M60 running any one these courses at the Northern Championships would be eligible to be M60 champion?
M21s at area championships run a championship course with a 90-100 minute winning time. At the CSC heat they run a brown course. The same goes through the age classes. The CSC is designed to be inclusive so all age classes can run a shorter or easier course than they would at a championships.

Don't follow this logic I'm afraid.
seriously?????
Does it not occur to you that individual members of NW clubs might want to compete in the Northern Championships (held in Yorkshire), while the club captain is trying to recruit them for the team to compete at the NW CSC heat (held outside Yorkshire)

It makes no difference
"Combining the Northern Champs in with the YHOA CSC heat^
means exactly the same as:
"Combining the YHOA CSC heat with the Northern Champs in conjunction^
in the same way that:
"A=B" means exactly the same as "B=A"
