Hi all,
Blatant plug to highlight that entries close this weekend (Sun 23rd) for the Midland Champs (part of the UKOL), being held on Sun 30th Jan at Sherwood Forest, home of the famous Major Oak and source of Robin Hood legends.
All classic length courses are available, including 1:15k scale for the M/W Senior and Junior Elite classes. So a great opportunity for an early season tester!
The cold weather has helped die the undergrowth back and the forest and heathland are looking very good.
Entries are here: https://thestartkite.uk/noc/
Initial details in the flyer here: http://www.noc-uk.org/docs/2022/2022%20 ... 0Flyer.pdf
Why not make a weekend of it with a Middle distance event (hosted by DVO) on Chatsworth on the Saturday, also part of UKOL.
Further details for this event are here: http://www.derwentvalleyorienteers.org. ... 2%20V3.pdf

Was there a special symbol for the Major Oak?

Re: Midland Champs @ Sherwood Forest
Thank you to all at Nottingham OC for a fantastic day, was relieved to get back at 2:24, and not be last back, after getting rather misplaced for a long time in the middle of my course. My routegadget is not entirely correct as for a while I didn't have a clue where I was, but it is closer than it was when I identified the controls I visited that were not on my course.
