Re: Restart of O
Good news on both the restart and rescheduling of the British Championships - decisive action from BOF who continue to impress in their response to the pandemic.
To oblivion and beyond....

Changes are indeed minimal:
Clubs should be ready to cancel any activity or competition at short notice, should changes to local or national guidelines dictate. Failure to respect this guidance could:
Result in an investigation and ifnecessary disciplinary action to be taken.
From Monday 29th March, people will no longer be legally required to Stay at Home. Many of the lockdown restrictions, however, will remain in place. People should continue to minimise travel wherever possible, and should not be staying away from home overnight at this stage.
Competitions or activities for novices areallowed providing social distancing canbe maintained.

Really, I hardly think that clubs would be likely to ignore BO guidance for one thing event insurance might well be compromised.

Re: Restart of O
DCMS were apparently very keen that NGB guidance should be "enforceable" - but, as you say, orienteers are generally sensible enough that it hopefully will not need any enforcing!

In Scotland from this Friday (12th March) groups of up to 15 adults can meet for outdoor non-contact sports. Looks like its game on

At present just local authority boundaries (as far as I am aware). So club training/mini-events (or maybe the same controls over a few days/nights to cater for different groups?).

Re: Restart of O
Meanwhile in England we have a "not before March 29th" date whatever that means and there are strong hints and expectations that it will be March 29th but it looks like the confirmation will not come until very close to that date and, understandably, landowners will not give permission until the date is properly set rather then hinted at.... which all means that, to allow for advertising/entries/printing, the first small local event will be mid-April.
I may stop bothering - I'm getting too old - time to just wait for others to put on events and simply enjoy them. I think I used to be more patient in my youth.
And as for training locally, I can't be the only one yearning for somewhere wild and unknown surely.

Re: Restart of O
In Scotland there is talk of the tier system being reintroduced at the end of April, until then travel restrictions remain as they are (except don't go within 2km of Ibrox Stadium).
If the tiers are introduced then e.g. tier 4 will still restrict travel to within the local authority area. So I'd guess travel to any 'normal' event won't happen until into June.
More worryingly is that the Scottish Govt could keep the restrictions on cross border travel in place through the summer or at least until late in the school holidays to prevent the import of virus as happened last summer.

I hope they do not keep the border closed late into the school summer hols - that would prevent many of us from getting to Fort William.

Re: Restart of O
Has the DCMS published its new sport guidelines yet or have they been too busy issuing guidance on compulsory flag flying from public buildings?
