FRBlackSheep first drew our attention to the Turf online game, way back in January 2014. Since then a few dedicated orienteers have enjoyed collecting Turf zones all over the UK and beyond. To play, you download an app, then go to a zone to claim it. It’s a bit like MapRun and you can use it for training, to improve your map memory, to practise your score orienteering technique, or simply to enliven a walk – it’s led us to loads of interesting places.
With the lack of orienteering recently, there’s been a surge of interest in Edinburgh. The Swedish guys that run the game have noticed, and set up hundreds more Turf zones for us to explore. I thought it was high time to remind everyone else about it – more details here:

Re: Turf revisited
ESOC have been enthusiastically turfing for the past few months, and there's an article about this in the forthcoming issue of CompassSport. Hope to see a few more of you joining in! There are turf zones all over the UK, and the Swedish organisers are keen to hear suggestions for more.
