It looks like some of us will be spending more time in the house in the next few months, especially the over 70s see: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51895873
What's the best virtual/online orienteering game at the moment?
What about advice on indoor workouts from websites or perhaps our elite orienteers who must have been stuck in houses during snowy dark scandinavian winters?

Re: Indoor orienteering
https://virtualo.org/ is the best game by a country mile, but it needs a decent spec PC - I'd say i7 processor with at least 8Gb RAM and preferably a dedicated graphics card.
There was a talk of a British Virtual-O Champs but its not easy to organise online events. We have the occasional tournaments in Sheffield but they involve getting people together around a set of computers so kind of defeats a 'social distancing' aim.

Don't forget The Forest (https://www.myforest.uk) for your online orienteering. It's completely free and requires no installation because it runs in your web browser on any current device (from Android phone to Linux desktop). It has a number of predefined courses and you can choose to make them easier or more challenging by selecting novice or expert roles. In the role of course planner you can set your own courses and send them to friends by email; how to do that is explained in the User Guide. Route analysis when you finish (or quit) a course includes your exact route drawn on the map. There is also a map-reading quiz to help explain O-maps to beginners.
I'd be interested in trying to add any enhancements you think the program needs. I am also keen to encourage other programmers in doing this kind of thing.
